A large percentage of modern evangelicals adhere to an "end times" theology that has as it's "scholars" and "experts", men who have time and again made failed rapture predictions. We lambaste men like Harold Camping for setting an actual, specific date for Christ's return, while we exalt, read books by and give television air time to men who have done the selfsame thing--minus pinpointing a single day on the calendar.
Seriously, Nostradamus and Joseph Smith have better track records than most of the men whom we see as being "experts" in the field of eschatology.
Our obsession with the end has made us a distracted, disoriented and relatively irrelevant bunch. It's time that we ended our fascination with evacuation, and instead got a vision for occupation. There are millions of people who have yet to come to grips with the power and reality of Christ's first coming, all the while we jabber on with subjective ideas on the when's and how's of His second coming.
Newsflash, the world doesn't care about our soon-to-be-debunked opinions on the identity of the "anti Christ", they want to encounter the Living Christ!
They'd rather swallow saw dust and lick sandpaper than read one more cheesy tract on the encroaching implementation of the "mark of the beast". They're unmoved by the prospect of not being able to "buy or sell" without having some "mark". What they need is for us who have been marked with the precious Holy Spirit to love them, and declare to them that everything they need has already been bought by Christ's precious blood.
What if we began to declare a Christ who has already come? What if we demonstrated a present Kingdom, instead of making faulty promises about a future one?
I'm not saying that there isn't a future Kingdom--of course there is! What I'm saying is that it's high time that we learned to demonstrate a present Christ, and not just a coming Christ! It's time that we manifested a NOW Kingdom, and not just a coming Kingdom.
Christ has come. It is finished. This is the Good News.
